The British Government needs to remove it's head from out of it's own arse, take a deep breath of fresh air and open your eyes to the real world.
The Government has been whining about declining standards of education and is it any wonder, when you are effectively removing not just people but whole historical events of major significance from the curriculum?
'Citizenship' has been recently added to the curriculum, no doubt something *important* was dropped from the existing curriculum to allow for this! WTF are you doing?
Why does a child living in the UK need lessons in Citizenship? They are already citizens!! If the 'lessons' are aimed at immigrants then they should be offered as an 'after school' activity and not used to detract from an already insufficient system.
Schools now offer alternative languages like Mandarin and Urdu (to replace French and German) as it is supposedly "more appropriate for today's economically diverse society".
What?
Do you even now anyone who is Mandarin? You complain because literacy and basic English language skills are in severe decline, so to fix that, you you dilute the number of lessons they can have by giving them lessons in an extinct language like Mandarin?
I can see how lessons in Urdu might be handy though, after all, there are occassions when you might want to converse with your neighbour.
A little though as, in case it escaped you, Indian immigrants moved to Britain in their droves starting in 1966 - just ask any Doctor, Taxi driver or bus driver.
If you want to keep with the trend setters, how about offering Polish? At least that way us Brits will stand a chance of reading the Polish signs you are erecting everywhere.
The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority have said that "a study of the political and cultural achievements of the Islamic states from 600 to 1600 could provide a contrasting overview of the medieval period in Britain"Really? I have no doubt it could provide 'contrast' but the time spent teaching that could be put to much better use - like learning about their own cultural history. |

It is happening everywhere my friend. Such a travesty. Our respective homelands more and more are catering to the minority world views while the majority stands by and lets it happen. I just cannot understand why. Complacency I guess. I have heard the following from my old pastor long back and it continues to resonate with me even today. I found it again from this link: http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/2181 [www.canadafreepress.com]But, here is the cycle of history: A well-known self-destructive cycle of democratic behavior has been attributed to an eighteenth century historian by the name of Alexander Tytler. Whether Tytler is the original author or not, the concept of democratic self-destruction has been proven accurate, right here in America. I shudder at the thought of what the next 20 years will bring for me and my family. What will my son have to endure because of the apathy of the current day? All I hope and pray for is that the Lord is soon to come back and take His own back with Him soon. What is called in Christianity as "The Rapture". What other hope do I have? |
